2022 Heartland Spice Trader Shiraz
Tasting Notes:
The aromas are of fruit compote and freshly baked apple and raspberry pie. The longer you leave it, the more you get. Black currants and dark forest fruits are cushioned by soft tannins providing a plush palate with a hint of Christmas spice on the finish. This is ready for enjoyment any time from release.
Vinification:
Our Shiraz was de-stemmed, crushed and pumped over twice a day for nine days. The wine matured for 12 months in oak prior to bottling.
2022 vintage:
The Langhorne Creek wine region experienced a long, slow vintage in 2022, beginning with high winter and spring rainfall leading to an extended, cool ripening phase. Reminiscent of long-past vintages, the grape harvest for 2017 kicked off a good two weeks later than the previous year in Langhorne Creek, with reds not hitting their stride until late March.
